Most job postings sound the same, and candidates can tell.
This is the job posting template we used when we decided to stop writing “standard HR-style postings” and start writing something more honest, more specific, and more human.
This job posting template is is designed to:
- make the role feel real (not fluffy)
- filter in the right people and filter out the wrong fit
- set clearer expectations (including the trade-offs, if you choose to include them)
- be transparent about basics like compensation and whether AI is used in screening
It also includes a note that it was built with Ontario’s 2026 hiring transparency requirements in mind.
A couple quick tips (the stuff that makes this work)
- Write it like a person. If it sounds like corporate filler, candidates will treat it like corporate filler.
- Let the prompt do the filtering. One good question beats 10 vague “requirements.”
- If you ask for effort, give effort back. Even a short, thoughtful response changes the experience.
Small print (worth saying)
This template is meant to be practical support, not legal advice. Always align your posting with your jurisdiction and internal policies.
